BNRG Maganey

BNRG Maganey is a new solar development near Beaconstown, Johnstown North & South, Kilkea Upper and Crooket in rural County Kildare.

Once developed, the solar farm will save 21,300* tonnes of carbon emissions annually and power the equivalent of 14,000* households.

Preserving the environment and archaeology is at the heart of BNRG Maganey

About the Project

Situated on 114 hectares across two nearby sites, BNRG Maganey has been carefully selected for its low-lying land suitable for high solar gains.

Enhanced screening

Sheltered by enhanced hedgerows and buffers, the site is strategically located near the national grid. Local topography, combined with planting and hedgerows, set back from public roads and new planting and fencing will help screen the low-lying solar array panels.

Quick build and traffic mitigation

Extensive traffic mitigation measures will be in place during the quick build which will take up to 12 months, followed by low-impact commissioning works lasting 3 to 6 months. Access to houses, farms and businesses will be maintained throughout the build.

Working with the community

We are committed to working closely with the local community at all stages of the project.

Community benefit fund

A community benefit fund will be established, likely contributing €3.2 million over 16.5 years.

Protecting the environment and heritage

Environmental, landscape and heritage conservation is at the core of BNRG Maganey.

Industry-leading expertise

By bringing together best-in-class experts to undertake extensive surveys and assessments, we can ensure BNRG Maganey meets the highest standards in environmental and archaeological preservation.

Working with the community

We are committed to working closely with the local community at all stages of the project. Prior to submitting a planning application, we will host a public consultation clinic at Castledermot Community Centre on Tuesday, 16 June 2026.

Community Benefit Fund

A Community Benefit Fund will be established, likely contributing €1.8 million over 15 years once the solar farm is operational and generating electricity.

BNRG Maganey

BNRG Maganey is led by BNRG Renewables, a solar energy company based in Dublin and bringing almost 20 years of expertise in global solar development.

Our mission

Our goal is to provide clean, green energy, while supporting local communities and helping to reach national climate targets.
